As part of the ‘Body of the Translator’ conference and to celebrate the publication of Tracie Morris’s bilingual book, Double Change and the Fondation des Etats-Unis invite you to a reading of Emmanuèle Jawad et Tracie Morris
Tracie Morris will be translated into French by Abigail Lang, Vincent Broqua and the students of the Masters in literary translation of Paris Diderot. E. Jawad will be translated into English by Barbara Beck.
The reading is organized by Double Change as the last event of the « Body of the translator » conference
Tracie Morris will also perform in Nantes on Saturday November 25th for the MidiMinuitPoésie festival
Biographies des intervenantes
Tracie Morris is a poet, scholar and performer. She has performed, researched and presented work in 30 countries and has taught in higher education for 20 years. Her upcoming fifth poetry collection (also her first collection in French translation) is Hard Koré: Poèmes/Per Form: Poems Selected and New (joca seria, ‘collection américaine’, 2017). Tracie is co-editor of Best American Experimental Writing 2016 with Charles Bernstein, published by Wesleyan University Press. She is a former fellow of Creative Writing at the University of Pennsylvania, Cave Canem fellow and a 2018 Master Artist for the Atlantic Center for the Arts . She holds an MFA in poetry from Hunter College and a PhD in Performance Studies from New York University. Dr. Morris is the founding Professor and Coordinator of Performance and Performance Studies at Pratt Institute, New York.
Emmanuèle Jawad is a poet. Among her latest publications are EN VIGILANCE EXTÉRIEURE (Lanskine, 2016), Faire le mur (Lanskine, 2015). Her current project is [carnets de murs]. She is also a frequent contributor (articles, interviews, reviews) of Cahiers critiques du cipM, of Diacritik, Remue.net, Libr-critique, Sitaudis and Poezibao. She is a member of the editorial board of Remue.net. In June 2017, she wrote the preface to the anthology of Jacques Sivan’s poetry: Jacques Sivan La poésie motléculaire de Jacques Sivan, (Al Dante, june 2017).
