Thursday, April 14 @8pm: John Kamfonas Piano Recital

France-site

The Fondation des Etats-Unis is delighted to welcome you for a piano recital, performed by John Kamfonas, who is a Harriet Hale Woolley Scholar of the FEU.

John Kamfonas is a pianist who has given performances around the world, from Italy to India, Beijing to New York, which have been described as possessing `a grandeur that lifted the music into the sublime…and a delicacy that took one’s breath away.` (National Herald, New York). Johns’ unpredictable concerts comprise works by composers ranging from Bach and Brahms to Rachmaninoff and Debussy interweaved among spontaneously conceived improvisations.
He gave his New York debut at Merkin Hall in 2012 sponsored by the Hellenic American Cultural Foundation and has since split his time performing in France as a resident musician at the Fondation des Etats-Unis in Paris and at various festivals in the U.S. Just this summer he was a guest performer for a fourth year at the Greencastle Music festival in Indiana and a resident fellow of the Atlantic Music Festival in Waterville, Maine participating in its annual summer chamber music series.
John holds a bachelors of arts in music and economics from Columbia University and a masters in piano performance from the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied under Phillip Kawin. John is currently pursuing a graduate diploma at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris under the guidance of Marian Rybicki and Jean Fassina.
