Thursday, December 12th @ 8pm: Concert – Ensemble Calliopée « Les Etats-Unis, Terre d’accueil » #5
This concert of Ensemble Calliopée – in their fifth year of artistic residency at the Fondation des Etats-Unis – around the theme of The United States, Terre d’accueil, brings to light music and composers of the Jewish culture in all its diversity. Their history is closely linked to exile, from Russia, Germany, Romania to the New World. This program brings to light several pieces that have rarely been interpreted before such as Joseph Achron’s Sextet, which will be premiered in France and Kurt Weill’s Youth String Quartet back to back with contemporary composer Osvaldo Golijov’s Quintet and the famous Overture on Hebrew Themes by Prokokiev.
