Bringing American Song Repertoire to International Audiences
The Fondation des Etats-Unis in association with MediaWen is pleased to announce the concert Vox Amerika. American soprano Jennifer Lindshield and French pianist Elise Kermanac’h present Inspirations Françaises, a program from the American Song repertoire highlighting the artistic influence of french culture on American composers. The program is accompanied by the projection of images by American artist, Lisa Salamandra. Check out the preview below!

About the Artists
”A powerful voice whose timbre successfully transitions from operatic aria to pop song”. Soprano Jennifer Lindshield is quickly gaining momentum in both Europe and the United States. She is convincing in her varying repertoire that ranges from Puccini to Kurt Weill, from Handel to Gershwin. The 2016/17 season brings continued performances of the role of Diva in SOAP/WET in Munich, Hannover, Bremen and Bonn. Last season she performed the role in Münster, Berlin, Budapest and at the Israeli Opera House in Tel Aviv. Other performances this season include Inspirations Françaises at the Fondation des États-Unis in Paris as part of her Vox Amerika series which she created and interprets. An advocate of American composers, Ms. Lindshield brings the American song repertoire to international audiences. Other recent past performances in this series include Kurt Weill: destination musique, Berlin / Paris / New York with performances at The Sunset Sunside Jazz Club and The American Cathedral in Paris.
Originally from Finistère, pianist Elise Kermanac’h studied at the Conservatoire National de Rennes and performs regularly with singers. Since 2000, she has been part of the ensemble, Chrysalis, which specializes in the contemporary repertoire and improvisation. Ms. Kermanac’h often collaborates with composers including Gérard Pesson. Passionate about dance, Elise Kermanac’h created two shows with Sylvain Richard, The Call of the Wild and Starting Point. In 2005 she created, with soprano Claire Maupetit, La cabane des animaux, a musical tale for young audiences on tour throughout France with Jeunesses Musicales de France. Finally she regularly plays in duo duet with pianist Laurent Wagschal.
Born in the United States, Lisa Salamandra painter has lived in France since 1994. She holds a B.F.A. from the Maryland Institute, College of Art and a M.F.A. degree from the Sorbonne University in Paris. Her work is regularly exhibited in Europe (Paris, Berlin) and the U.S. (Princeton). Several publications have been devoted to it: Daily Bread (mon pain quotidien) (L’àpart éditions, 2009) and « Daily Bread: Raw Meat » (éditions de la résidence Shakers, 2013). She is currently writing a thesis at the Sorbonne under the direction Professor Michel Sicard. The drawings of her « Daily Bread » series are the subject of a solo exhibition at the Galerie La Ralentie in Paris until December 10th, 2016.
